DIY Gift #2: Flower Pot

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to stop by and share some easy DIY gift ideas.

First, I created this frame with craft stuff I had around the house. I had bought the unfinished frame the last time we ventured to Winnipeg and went to Michaels. I am pretty positive Walmart carries them now too. I wanted to make a personalized frame for Matthew for his first Father's Day and this is what I created:

I painted the frame a teal colour. I was going to cut the letters out with my Cricut, but I was whipping this together while Bryar and her dad were having a nap, so I decided to use some of the Thickers I had. I laid them out on a piece of paper before sticking them to the frame, so I could get the placement centered. I then glued them on with Scotch glue, so that I could make sure that they would stay put. I then added some plastic and paper buttons that I had and glued them on too. I though the frame looked a little plain and unbalanced so I doodled around the outside with a sharpie.

I think this would be an easy gift to whip up for someone. You could change the words on the bottom to say whatever you wanted, even personalize with a name.

The second DIY gift idea was inspired by Pinterest. I used stuff I had around the house again. I came across this pin that showed a painted flower pot that said "Thanks for Helping Me Grow." I was making this for a co-worker, who is an Early Childhood Educator like myself, so I changed the saying to "ECEs help children grow." Again I think this could be personalized to whomever you were wanting to make this for, "Grandparents help grandchildren grow" or "Mom/Dad helps us grow" etc. I shared photos of how I created this step by step on my YouTube channel. I will link videos for both gifts below.

I am tired... and some new cards

Hello again!

Sorry I have been a bad blogger. I have been so tired from my not so great sleeping 5 month old (teeth ugh!) that I have not felt creative lately. So I have just been getting through each day the best I can.

Father's Day was coming up and I wanted to make a card for my hunny as it was his first official Father's Day. There was also a retirement a party upcoming, and since being on mat leave I am not financially able to contribute, I offered to make the card. So having a purpose to craft kinda got my mojo going. Here are the cards I made:

Father's Day
Stamps: Di's Digital Stamps "What a Catch"
Ink: N/A- Printed from my HP Printer
Papers: Recollections- Neapolitan
Cardstock: Bazzill (unsure of colour)
Colouring Medium: Copic Markers and Prismacolor Pencils
Embellishments: N/A

Retirement Card
Stamps: Technique Tuesday "Petite Posies", "Best Wishes" Created in Microsoft Word
Ink: Archvial Ink, HP Printer
Papers: Recollections- Neapolitan
Cardstock: Bazzill (unsure of colours)
Colouring Medium: Watercolour Pencils
Embellishments: N/A

So that is what I have been up to. I got a couple of new stamps from Some Odd Girl, which I am excited to colour. I showed them off and these cards in my latest YouTube video:

Thanks for stopping by I hope to have more to share soon!

Kraftin' Kimmie Saturday Challenge and Sugar and Spice Crafty Challenge #4

Wow that title is a mouthful!

I have two cards that I made for challenges this week, so let's get to it while Bryar will let me write!

Here is what I created for the Kraftin' Kimmie Saturday Challenge:

Stamps: Kraftin Kimme "The Krafty Stamper"
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers: American Crafts
Cardstock: Bazzill (unsure of colour)
Colouring Medium: Watercolour pencils and Distress Ink
Embellishments: Studio G Adhesive Buttons

I think the stamp I used may be a retired one. I have been wanting to use her for awhile, and I coloured her to have ready when I figured out what I wanted to do. I decided today to finally use her. I created a 5.5 by 5.5 inch card and backed her with American Crafts paper. I broke into my adhesive button stash. I doodled around the edge to finish it off.

And here is what I created for the Sugar and Spice Crafty Challenge #4, Which was April Showers bring May Flowers:

Stamps: Technique Tuesday
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Archival Ink
Papers: American Crafts, Watercolour Paper
Cardstock: Bazzill (unsure of colour)
Colouring Medium: Watercolour pencils

My hubby wanted me to make a Thank You card for him, so I thought it would be a great excuse to make a card for the current Sugar and Spice Crafty Challenge. I went for more of the flowers side of things. I watercoloured the three flowers with a light wash of colour. I then fussy cut them out and glued them down. I then used my Ali Edwards small "Thanks a Million" stamp to make the sentiment, which I just stamped onto a green piece of pattern paper. I kept it really simple. no real embellisments, just some doodling around the outside.

So thanks for stopping by to check out my creations! I am hoping to have a new video up on my YouTube channel tomorrow. :)

Card Shares- The Greeting Farm and Pink Cat Studios

Hey everyone I just wanted to come and quickly update my blog. I know it has been awhile. Same old excuses life got busy. I have been posting videos weekly still on my YouTube Channel though. In fact, I just posted two more of some cards I created recently. I thought I would share here too.

The first card I made is a birthday card for my sister, I was motivated to start and finish it so I could enter ScrappinStampers (Jamie) 2000 Subbie Challenge.

Stamps: The Greeting Farm- Wild Things, Lawn Fawn- Harold's ABCs, Wooden Alpha (?)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers: Amy Tan
Cardstock: Bazzill (unsure of colour)
Colouring Medium: Copic Markers
Embellishments: Sequins

You had to create a card using stamps of your choice to send to someone. I made my sister a card for her birthday, which is Wednesday. I made a spot inside to stick a gift card. Now I better get this in the mail!

The second card I made is for the "Crazy Hair" Challenge that Bethany- BAcraftygirl is having over on her channel.

Stamps: Pink Cat Studios- Enchanted Lily
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers: American Crafts
Cardstock: Bazzill (unsure of colour)
Colouring Medium: Copic Markers
Embellishments: n/a

I gave Lily purple hair. I had fun colouring it. Feel free to stop by my YouTube channel if you would like a look at both projects. I am hoping to have to some stuff to post both here and there soon!

Have a great Easter weekend!

Giveaway Time!

Hello Again!

I am excited to bring you my first ever GIVEAWAY! Can you tell I am excited? This is something that I have wanted to do for awhile and have finally got around to putting it together. I am using Rafflecopter to make it easier for me moderate and you to enter. You can get up to four entries, by following the steps on the Rafflecopter Widget.

I did some shopping in my stash, and put together a nice little prize pack for you to win. I showed some of the things that one winner will get in my latest video.

This is open to Canada and US only. In the future I am hoping to do another giveaway for something like an gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp, so I can do a "World Wide" contest. But because I am paying to ship this prize, I am limiting it to North America. :) The giveaway will open Friday March 14/14 at 12:00am and close Friday March 21/14 at 12:00am. I will announce the winner shortly after.

Hope you all are as excited as I am! Looking forward to who will be the recipient of this prize!

Have a good day! :)
